I have been asked to give the history of tarte au citron/lemon tart and what origin of france it originally came from and when and where it is most popular to eat it.

The ';tarte au citron'; isn't exclusively French. It's considered ';Mediterranean'; as different variants exist around its basin.





In France, however, the most famous town to make it (even though not the definite origin) is ';Menton'; in the south east of France (on the French Riviera).





Each year, they have a ';lemon'; festival (in February for 2010), and ';tartes au citron'; feature heavily in the festivities.
